2 Bridges Swim Under the Walkway is an early season 2.5K/5K on a fast, fun, and scenic course in the Hudson River, presented by CIBBOWS and the organizers of 8 Bridges.

Location: Public Dock, Waryas Park , Poughkeepsie, NY. Swimmer Check-in and event refreshments will be at the Children’s Museum Pavilion 300 yards to the north of the Public Dock.

Street Location: Main Street at the Hudson River (minutes from the Poughkeepsie Metro-North and Amtrak stations).

Start Time: Registration opens at 1PM and closes at 2PM.
Safety Briefing: 2:15PM
Race Briefing: 2:30PM
Splash: 3PM for 5K, 3:15PM for 2.5K.
Times are one hour later on June 2.
Registration: Swimmers must decide on distance and division (wetsuit or non-wetsuit) at time of registration. Once registered it is up to the discretion of Race Director to accept any changes. ABSOLUTELY NO CHANGES RACE DAY. Online event registration is strongly recommended by race organizers for convenience and accuracy. Online registration remains open until 11:59PM (EDT) on Thursday, May 30 and is available through the registration link above.

Course Description: The 2.5K swim starts at the public dock and follows a rectangular course that circles the eastern stanchions of the Mid-Hudson and Walkway Over the Hudson Bridges, 900 meters apart. The 5K is two loops of the 2.5K course.
Time Limit: 2.5K 1hr:30m; 5K 1hr:45m

Water Temperature: The water temperature will be between 64 and 70˚F.
Maximum Entrants: 250
Awards: Awards will be offered to the top placers in each category.
Safety: Lifeguards, jet skis, and kayaks will monitor entire course. A safety boat (in conjunction with Harbor Police, Fire Dept. and Coast Guard) will keep boat traffic away. EMT personnel will be on-site. In case of inclement weather or dangerous conditions, the race director may modify or close the course and/or prevent swimmers from completing the swim. Each swimmer will be given a highly visible numbered swim cap that must be worn as the top cap during the entire swim. All swimmers will be body-marked with a race number during check-in.
Timing: Electronic timing will be used for this event. Each swimmer will receive an electronic chip ankle bracelet which must be worn during the race and returned immediately after crossing the finish line. A $30 fee will be charged for a lost or unreturned chip.
Swimwear: Swimwear shall be made of textile material. For men, the swim suit shall not extend above the navel or below the knee. For women, the swim suit shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulders, nor extend below the knees.
Wetsuits are permitted and will be timed in a separate “wetsuit” category. Technical suits will be grouped with the wetsuit category.
Age Limit: Swimmers must be 16 years old or older. For exceptions please contact the race directors.
Getting there: Travel via Metro-North right to the event site in Poughkeepsie (1hr 20 mins from Grand Central Station). Those who are driving can park at the Metro-North station for free.
